"So the money is in the bank, they only have 20 per cent, they have board representation and we can get to know them before they have significant influence over the club."

Hallett added: "They provide Argyle with access to a large pool of new capital. This is going to be a very friendly relationship. I'm going to have a bunch of new friends, and I mean that literally."

It's fair to say this looks like a long term commitment to Argyle. Exciting, if they fulfill the promise. The stars are aligning finally for our Club? coyg

And all of a sudden everyone on here against rich owners and bucket loads of cash are now all for it!

Except it’s neither of those things.

They don’t own or have control of the club (the reasoning for the 20% has been explained) and there aren’t bucket loads of cash (yet). It’s a modest initial outlay with a view to building the club’s infrastructure.

This all seems like good news, BUT.

It still feels like you've come out of a relationship where you pretty much hit a catastrophic rock bottom. To eventually go into another relationship where you have to learn to trust again 😂.

Interesting line there.. ‘we get to know them before they have significant influence over the club’.

So once we’ve got to know them and assuming everything is good, do we expect a more significant investment (and influence…) in the future with SH passing on the baton??

That’s what I think that might mean.

This is only a peck on the cheek tho, as SH said this is a chance to get to know our new friends - no one’s jumped under the covers just yet.

I picked up on this too, but in all fairness, it is inevitable at some point in the future.

the Hallett family aren’t immortal and at some point will have to step back. I think he is being extremely responsible in succession planning and seeking a suitable exit route which are in the best interests of the club.

Take it from me, it is very easy to sell out to the highest bidder, the trick is in finding partners with similar ethos, values and this way there is no overnight transfer of power, there is a potentially long period of stability and continuity before change at the top comes.

It is almost as if Simon Hallett has been given access to someone else's piggy bank... up to an initial amount of £4m but with lots more coins chinking away in it when it is rattled!
And I think the £4million initial amount is more controlled by Simon than the consortium.

I get the impression he’s holding them back until he’s satisfied with them and they are satisfied by the club.

He’s very diligent and business like but he’s also got the clubs interest firmly at the forefront of any deal.

I think this is the beginning of Argyle growing 3 fold as a club over the next decade.
