Steven Schumacher aiming for three more new signings

So Shuey has stated he wants 3 players to come in this window - with a forward player definitely being one of them. I’m going to put my neck on the line and say Marquis was not one of Shueys targets. I still think Shuey would have looked back at last season and thought that when Hardie didn’t play or wasn’t fit (towards the end of the season) that we missed pace and someone to run channels the way Hardie does to stretch the opposition. I know many on this forum think we need a different type of forward all together and not a pacey type. But I honestly think that is what we need, as I think of the 3 forwards we’ve currently got that no-one can replace Hardie.

Of the other 2 positions I think one is a RWB to provide cover primarily but of a different style to Edwards and more of a winger RWB who’s capable of beating a man out wide which is different to how Edwards plays.

The other player I think we’ll try to sign is a CB, probably a ball playing type that is comfortable in possession as we always need 2 CB’s of the 3 in the 3-1-4-2 formation to be able to begin a move from the back and also be able to play through a press which I saw increasing opposition managers try to play against us as the season went on.

We’ve heard one is just about over the line, so hopefully that will be tied up this week and Shuey gets his man - I’m confident in our recruitment this window and am already pretty pleased with the 2 signings we’ve made to date 👍👍
We DO need another pacey forward as Hardie blows hot and cold. You just don't get we need a more physical presence up front also but many on here do and am sure Schuey has been prioritising that position having learnt from last season. As we know he very nearly signed Kelly in January which pretty much proves that theory.

Garrick would not be an improvement on what we had last year. Schuey said we needed more star quality in the team... we appear to have added that with Miller (not sure about Butcher yet), but for me Garrick would just give us more of the same from last season.

There is better out there.
Plenty worse too.

I agree we need some muscle up front (with pace as well a bonus) to hold the ball up especially when we need to go long to beat the oppositions press and also scoring a few headers too would be nice.

We’ve all differing opinions but I think Shuey will be more likely to bring in pace rather than physicality up front personally but we’ll find out soon enough what type of striker he’s after. Shuey will know that when Hardie is not playing we’ve not got any proper pace up front and surely he realises that Ennis and Jephcott just aren’t effective together. Why bring in a slower player as it just doesn’t solve the problem when Hardie is not available.?

I hope not.

Pace works in some matches but not all. That’s when you need a physically presence in the box to win balls and bring others into play.

Do many times we’ve been up against strong defenders that win everything that comes close to them.

Getting to the byline and crossing decent balls into the box should happen moser with the WB area improvement. For that we need some muscle in the box to hold space keep possession

Yes especially Hardie
Awesome. So, out of a squad of how many? You specifically rate one or more players?

Can’t help thinking the guys will be really buoyed by such unwavering support, and are now, no doubt, more than willing to run that extra mile.

COYG ...We’re all behind you

Not what he tried to do in January was it? He knows we need a different option.

Your assumptions might not be entirely correct. How do you know that Shuey didn’t want a pacey player as his main priority and that Georgie Kelly was 2nd or 3rd choice option perhaps? Maybe Shuey didn’t try that hard to sign Kelly hence him going to Rotherham instead.

Difference last time is we already had 4 strikers on the books which included Garrick who’s not the slower physical type. Kelly would have been the 5th striker so it made a little more sense to have a different type of striker. This time we’ll only have 4 strikers.
