I assume Houghton is suspended for one game at the start of next season so Matt will most probably start the first match.

Or Adam Randell?

As always, Balham, it has come down from the Premiership!
and it comes from the big clubs (I know, shock right) who have bigger squads that they want to rotate and more games to get through on any given season.

For me, I hope it makes a positive change for the game, more impetus from a bank of subs perhaps but its totally driven from the "player welfare" angle from the top 6.

I'm keeping an open mind on how it affects our level, but surely benefits the clubs with bigger squads (and therein more money to hold such squads).

I got into a heated debate in London with a chelsea supporting cabbie about 6 months back who was advocating even MORE subs than this, principally as he wanted to be able to give more players more game time to keep them happy.

I said yeah but then you would say that (and a few other things)

I don’t like the new substitute rule myself. Another break in play that could be abused with teams taking a while for the replaced player to leave the pitch and also too many subs could lead to a disjointed performance.

Hope it’s just a trial and fails quickly.

A lot of goals are scored in last few minutes when teams tire. With half the team subbed potentially that likelihood will be reduced. Has it been explained anywhere why this change was necessary? Subs are often made merely as a time wasting measure.
To appease Jurgen Klopp. When we had this arrangement before RL quite often made things worse. If you spend all week discussing a game plan, the shape and who is marking who, changing 50% of the outfield must lead to confusion?

I think this guy can do both roles...hold the midfield and put himself about getting the ball. He can also play forward and create...the clue to this is Coleman wanted him to stay ergo he's a decent player. I put the esteemed Mr Colemans football knowledge and aptitude over mine and the experts on social media.....

I'm now friendly with quite a few Stanley fans and officials - so much so that when I ordered a club tie last week they despatched it before I had given them BACS details. They are all united in wishing him well. In terms of attending supporters' functions nothing was too much trouble." (Senior Greens prospective speaker) The concencus was that he always gave 100% and was a very pleasant, approachable lad who made it clear he wanted to return south.
