If this big screen takes around 2 seasons to pay for itself as is suggested self then I’m all for it.

The big screen is costing ‘six figures’ so using simple maths it should give an annual profit of £50,000 per season minimum. That’s a lot more money than the loss of ~ approx 124 seats can generate.

Brilliant move by the club, well done all involved 👍👍

the big screen manages to enhance the experience to the supporters on match days and concerts etc but also at the same time increasing the revenue made by the club to help us towards putting more money into other parts of the club.

Oh dear , we have needed a screen and enhanced facilities for years and now we have got one coming we are
More concerned about the small number of seats we will lose in a stadium that only sold out a handful of times!!! Come on! Give the club a break!
You can’t please all the people all of the time.

Page 1 contains people complaining about the positioning despite their explanation in the article of why it was chosen?

I bet no one saw that coming.

Well done Argyle, this will be a good income source.

l was imagining a sell out, like MK Dons, and people standing up in front of the screen.

But l guess the rows in front if people stand up wouldn’t affect the visibility of the bottom part? I say this as most will watch it at HT and some people like to stand at HT after sitting down for 45 minutes.

Great position... I won't have to look at it at all from where I normally sit.
Waste of money... but hey, the world needs more adverts!!

Whilst in the short term it seems silly to 'compromise' capacity, clearly the club are thinking long term and working on the assumption that the missing corners will be filled in with seating as planned. I would imagine that they'd be able to design the seating in these corners to benefit a capacity increase % higher than the area cited in block 17. Therefore it's location makes perfect sense and will in future be the location most visible to the highest % of home fans (and perhaps most importantly the corporate section looking from the grandstand at their companies appearing on the adverts).

As with everything Argyle at present, good long term thinking.

Oh and finally the screen/scoreboard everyone's been on about for years..

Looks really good and not out of proportion with the rest of the stadium, which seems to be a problem in a lot of League 1 grounds. We've needed something like this for a while and if used properly it's really going to improve the 'match day experience' for almost everyone (excluding those who won't be able to see it and those who might not want to!).

We need to get into this game if we're planning on going up: the Championship has goal-line technology and will probably get a version of VAR from next season, so if we do get promoted having a big screen is going to really help to integrate these technologies into the experience of the fans. Better to get used to using the screen in L1 before things potentially get more complicated.

Slightly disappointing, but probably inevitable, that the already reduced capacity is being affected but hopefully someone can work out how this can be made up from elsewhere in the stadium. If not it would still be a win overall for the club if over the course of a season it persuades more people to attend more matches.

So now to look at it, everyone in the Lyndhurst has to look either behind themselves or crank their necks to the left. No consideration for anyone who might have a bad neck or maybe suffered from whiplash after an accident that wasn't their fault.

Also, I hope it doesn't become annoying as a light shining in my peripheral vision gives me migraine, especially at night. Let's hope the players aren't distracted by it, I can't see the likes of Joe Edwards scoring another overhead classic like he did against Sheffield Wednesday if he's distracted at the wrong moment and is busy checking his hair just before attempting to score. It's alright for the Premier League players, they're used to it, but this is Argyle in L1.

As for paying for itself through advertising, what adverts are we going to see ? Hopefully not fast food or latest gadget stuff, it's expensive enough now as it is without getting pestered all the way home by kids demanding a chicken burger flavoured pizza or ipod.

Typical Argyle.
