Reading various other forums; so far Pan is going to Sunderland, The Wendies, Ipswich, Burnley, Preston and Pompus!! So should be some bidding war.

I agree about players leaving. It’s inevitable.

However, these players you mentioned weren’t brought in on the cheap either. I can’t see Argyle spending anything like these sums on players in the transfer market.

Brentford took a gamble. They spent reasonable sums of money, to make more. I’m not sure Argyle are prepared to go down this same route because our chairman thinks the transfer market is a gamble.

This is what Brentford spent bringing some of those players in.

Andre Gray brought from Luton for £500,000.

Neal Maupay brought from St Etienne for 1.8 million

Ollie Watkins brought from Exeter for 6.5 million.
True bit those players were signed in the Championship, they were not paying those sort of prices in league 1.

I heard Swansea might be interested in Pan too. Which makes me think that a Garrick Camara swap deal and maybe some cash coming our way wouldn’t be an impossibility..

Love Pan but if a player is looking elsewhere and the price is right?
Strikes me that with released lists, youngsters (like ours) being let go that there will be oodles of little nuggets out there that we could get.
This is the 'outsmart' agenda Shirley?
The price will be right. There may be oodles of noodles. Nuggets are ok if you’ve got good teeth. And stop calling my ‘surely’!😂

No thanks. We're going to need as much cash as possible to replace Pan.

I do hope Argyle actively try to move him on to a Championship club. It's bad enough we're letting him leave, but it'll be even worse if we strengthen a League One rival in the process.

Agree fully with this. Garrick in no way fills any of the voids we have/will have. Plus letting him go to Wednesday or Sunderland (if they don't go up) is as bad as it gets in terms of a transfer.

If a player doesn't totally want to be here it makes no sense to keep them, regardless whether you think they are more beneficial to us financially if they stay because you say they may get us promoted.
A player (indeed an employee of any organisation) who is courted by other clubs (organisations) and offered more cold hard cash and sits down and decides that actually they would like to move elsewhere, if told they're going nowhere is more likely to be below par, demotivated, potentially a problem for other players if they see a drop in standards.
Anyone else posting on here would be the same if they were offered a job move they really fancied and their current employer said nah you're going no where, no matter how professional they say they'd be....it's only natural.
If players want to go the best thing Argyle can do is extract the maximum transfer fee for them and reinvest it directly in the squad.
The only way I can see a player accepting staying and playing as per normal is if Argyle set a price reserve that isn't met by other clubs.

I hate to be negative, but we aren’t going up next season.
We have just had what felt like a spectacular season and didn’t even make the playoffs.
Camara is likely going, I’ll bet Cooper attracts a bid or two too good to turn down, so that’s the engine and the handbrake gone. We simply won’t afford like for like replacements - they’re Championship players and we just had 40+ games out of them. It will be as nasty as trying to find replacements for Sonny Bradley and Zak Vyner, and ending up with Scott Wootton and Niall Canavan. Ashley Smith Brown and Tafari Moore instead of Gary Sawyer and Oscar Threlkeld - a defence ordered on Wish.
We’ll try and find as best we can, but to improve on what’s departing? Forget it.
We just need to trust the process, identify potential, invest in young talent, seek out the players with attributes that fit in our system.
If Camara goes, we’ll have paid next to nothing for a player, had two great seasons out of him and sold him for a profit. We can’t be bitter about that, Camara has more than upheld his side of the deal and has clubs lining up to throw money at him.

Now where is the next raw 22 year old with outstanding potential ready to dominate League One?
He's called Lyall Cameron and plays for Dundee (he's only 20 though).

Part of a relegation squad.. May have learnt a bit of Charlie Adams though.
