Gillingham had this dilemma when Bradley Dack was in his last year. They turned down an offer of over £2 million when he had over 2 years left. In the end the club cut their losses and sold him for a decent 750k.

You can’t blame Camara if another club will offer him three times as much as our best offer. However, it is still frustrating when we are unable to tie in one of our better players on a longer contract. To a point, I do get Hallett’s prudent approach on the overall budget . However, how are we going to attract new players and keep our better players when there are ex Premier League and Championship clubs spending big money just to get out of League 1 ? We massively over- achieved last season and I would be surprised if we were able to substain this with low to mid table budget. If we finish mid table next season, will fans be happy with that ?

The club is doing the right thing. If there is plenty of interest then we get the right price for our man before he loses value. If there isn’t, it smokes out his agent and he may end up signing because his agent has over-stated his potential and is a greedy operator. Who knows? Only the club. They’ve not got much wrong to date so let’s trust them

Correct move in my opinion by the club, best off cashing in now then losing him for nothing next summer or cheaper in January.

also frees up some wages (when he moves) and hopefully whatever more we offered him goes back onto the new budget.

Got faith in the club to find a suitable replacement.

I think we have to be realistic about our chances of promotion, looking at the size of clubs we're competing and the funds they have available, which we will always struggle to match. It'll take an exceptional season with all the planets aligning. Meanwhile to be honest I'm happy to watch good quality, competitive football against decent teams.

What is worth more to the club: selling Camara this summer or promotion to the Championship? Because without Pan our chances of going up next season are vastly reduced.

I agree with Justin, this is a bad decision by the club.

This always get said when a popular and skilled player leaves. And it's never true.

That's my concern as well. It's asking a lot for Schumacher and co to over achieve a modest budget once again.

The simple fact is we have no idea how much we offered or how much his agent wants. At the end of the day, unless you are on enough money not to worry about money then you will always go where the money is. So if pans agent say, i can get you more then so be it.
I will miss him as i feel his energy and drive was soo missed when he was out of the team. But good luck to him and thankyou for your effort at argyle.

We move on.

Not if we replace him sensibly - e.g don’t do the lazy thing and just buy Broom.

Camara has an incredible engine, is defensively good and a good dribbler of the ball. However his end product can been wasteful, he does not score enough and he is fairly inconsistent. I’ve really enjoyed watching him but I do not think he is irreplaceable in the same sense Bradley, Carey et al were when they left in recent years.

Best of luck to him, never gave less than 100% and hopefully he lands in the Championship.

A bad decision not to break the bank for a player who wants to leave?
