This is happening at HP, as I understand it. Was confirmed at the fans forum, wasn’t it?

I’d be very curious to know which clubs don’t have a scoreboard of ANY kind, let alone a video screen. We must be one of a very very few.

The only time clock I'm interested in is the one in the referee's hand. Anything else is irrelevant. A few years ago I was at the Torquay pre-season friendly and what was on the screen during the game? Yes the game was on, the game we were watching live. Are we all going mad?

Yes I'd imagine we are one of very few. And I'm not sure why people are so against it. We hd one in the late eighties and it is now the 21st century so why would we not have one now. I'd imagine the cost of running it would be paid for by sponsors advertised on it.

A big glowing screen could be very distracting inside the ground and I can see it getting on people’s nerves. I would keep an open mind on this, but I don’t think many fans see it as a big priority.

If the club go ahead with a scoreboard , they need to be very careful about where they put it. Could do more harm than good.

Yeah because it’s been a problem for every elite club so far 🤔

I'm a big supporter of scoreboards. Really helpful at other sports and when I've been to other grounds. A wealth of information can be provided, instant replays, you can actually see who's being interviewed pre, inter and post match. I don't want to be looking at my mobile checking scores and how long left...I'd rather take a quick glance at a screen without missing any action. Not sure I understand the objections to the idea, some of the reasons don't make a lot of sense apart from the usual resistance to change.

There's actually very few objections. I, like some others, am not against it but just don't get the excitement of an electronic scoreboard. As with many other non-football things at HP (flag waving, pre-match music, Sweet Caroline, fist pumps - that one's gone - and more), it doesn't do anything for me, but if these things make others happy I've no objection whatsoever.

Our old scoreboard did make me chuckle once though. Long time ago but, if I remember correctly, we were a goal up against Wolves scored by Kevin Hodges. And the scoreboard said..."Kevin Hodges dances with Wolves ".
(That may need explaining to the younger fans) :D

It would be handy to keep us updated on the Premier League scores or cricket and stuff like that. Maybe a rolling news ticker tape thing on the bottom like the BBC. They could use it to start the singing, as long as the operator was on the ball with all 3 songs. For example, in a quiet bit during a game, it could show a picture of a shoe so the lads in the Devonport know to take theirs off for Shooey.

I'm not fussed about whatever the jokers up the road do, if they don't know what the score is when they're watching the match, they're even more gormless than I imagined. We need to finish the ground off before we add any little, probably cheap, extras.

They have bigger, more spacious grounds and more options for putting the scoreboards high up and out of the fan’s line of sight. I‘m not saying that one couldn’t be installed at Home Park, just that the club need to take care in where they put it, if they intend to go down that route. For instance, if it were to be placed between the Devonport and Mayflower, a big video screen could flicker in the faces of those right next to it. I could do without that during a game.
