Most of the stewards were probably under the Devonport from HT trying to stop the kids having funšŸ™„.

All a bit pathetic tbh. No issues in the Demport but stewards everywhere again. Idiots kick off in the barn park and not a steward to be seen
There wasn't that many stewards outside of Lundhyrst before the game. I arrived at 2.30pm which is a reasonable amount of time to get into the stadium but I Still missed kick off and as for the security checks well I best not mention them.

I'm sure no one did get hurt. And yes, it's nowhere near as bad as it was in the "good old days" of the 70s and 80s. But blimey, just take a step back and have a look at yourselves in the mirror.

You're grown men, and what, because some fans of a different football team are celebrating a goal, you want to try and get at them? Do you not have the tiniest bit of self-control? So what if "Wigan started it", is this a playground? Have you got a mental age of over 10?

I've never ever understood it. And to those tweeting stuff like "you love to see it", just go home and watch Green Street for the 115th time. You'll find all the things that "you love to see" on there.

Cringeworthy, cringeworthy bunch of people.

Fair to say that all clubs have a rather unsavoury contingent amongst their fan base, but ours always seem to crawl out from beneath their stones when the club is doing well and has a high profile in the media. Or, perhaps they are always there and the additional publicity just brings their antics more into the limelight than in less newsworthy times?
I think it is now pretty plain to see why there was so much clamour from certain elements for the Family Section to be moved and Zoo Corner be reopened so that they could get more up close and personal to the visiting supporters and their own interpretation of ā€œfriendly banterā€ could be resumed.
Well, I suspect that concession will have been short lived and that greater segregation with it's resultant reduction in ground capacity and revenue for the club will soon be reimposed.

I wasnā€™t there, but it seems as my season ticket is in Block 16, Iā€™m now a thug and need to have my familyā€™s 3 tickets moved instantly. Love a bit of stereotyping.

2 groups of fans got involved, a number from each side. Shall we ban all Wigan fans in future as they were in the same block?

Iā€™ve seen a video which missed the start, so no idea what started it, but thatā€™s irrelevant anyway, but letā€™s not start associating people. Do we even know they started in Block 16? Shall we close the whole ground just to be safe?

Well, they may not have a choice but to close the whole ground if it is imposed on them for 'failure to control' elements of the crowd.

Interested to see what the club does. Hope to see some banning orders. The teenage posturing, whilst naff, is kind of understandable. Grown men throwing punches should know better. Kick ā€˜em out, itā€™s embarrassing. We should be bigger than it.

The police used to know the handful who would incite this sort of thing and they were largely kept out of games. I've noticed an upturn in uncomfortable behaviour from a small group of fans at some recent away games often in and around the grounds. I had just put it down to a small number who started way too early on the beer. I'm beginning to wonder if something we thought we left behind in the 80ā€™s isn't creeping back in.

Massively disappointed by how many Pasoti contributors in this thread are refusing to condemn this behaviour.
It's a shame, cos the singing in Zoo Corner has genuinely added to the atmosphere within the ground, however it was obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that it'd only be a matter of time before the dim-witted knuckle draggers ruined it.

Unfortunately the only resolution I can see is no new tickets sold in that part of the ground plus extra security: all costly to the club.
Personally I'd rather the money went on players and other positive things but hey....

Totally embarrassing. Haven't we seen enough violence and aggression in this city recently ? Yesterday both sets of fans paid tribute twice to a young woman taken by violence and aggression and how does the match end ? Knuckle draggers who can't take a last minute goal and a bit of ribbing from the oppo (we would have done the same). This crap belongs back in the 80s - no excuse for it and I don't know what I find more depressing, that it happened or that people on here and other platforms are defending / excusing it. Violence tarnishes and ruins football with the enjoyment of the majority spoilt by the minority. Always has, always will

Perhaps only sell season tickets for that area. It makes it easier to identify who is where and quicker to implement any ban. Once the season ticket is banned from the system, the holder cannot get in. But of course, this would also depend on good stewarding of people sitting (or standing) where they hold tickets. Perhaps this is also why an element of our support get annoyed when stewards try to do this.
