The manager was absolutely stupid to say that Mayor is better than Carey. That raised expectations among fans- we were expecting some sort of superstar.

If Mayor had signed without any hype, then I don't think fans would be so critical of him. He was a League Two midfielder who had spent many years with Bury. Not a high profile signing.

Give the bloke a break. He is what he is.
If people can’t look past a throw away comment from a rookie manager then they are pretty moronic in my view. The way that quote keeps being brought up is just daft.

Very frustrating player. Clearly has skill but reminds my of my 11 years olds, always wants an extra touch when the opportunity is there for a shot. By the time the extra touch is taken and he shoots, its straight at the defender who has closed down the space/gap that was there if he had shot earlier.

Quote from the Herald-
Lowe is not shy in bigging up his most impressive signing so far. "You've got the best No.10 in the league in Danny Mayor. He's better than Carey and Lameiras. I'll put that out there," he told supporters.

Anyhow, I thought Mayor was possibly Argyle's best player against Wycombe. Camara looked good as well. All the others were pretty much snuffed out by probably the most boring team I have ever seen.

Danny Mayor is totally out of his depth, yet again he is caught in possession and we conceded a goal. He wouldn't lace Brooms boots he tip toes left ,right , backward and dribble into trouble he needs to go he is out of his depth in league one
I said this on the Wycombe match thread too, because much of that was given over to Danny Mayor, whose inclusion was obviously the main reason why Argyle lost 3-0 at home.

Every time Mayor plays and Argyle fail to win, there is the most mind numbingly tedious referendum on whether he should be in the team and, usually, blaming him for the result in some way. Football is a complex game that doesn't obey anyone's personal obsessions, no matter how many times they inflict them on the rest of us.

Ignoring the patronising tone of the post I’ll just say that the ‘rest of us’ appear to be an ever increasing minority.

Argyle were unbeaten with him absent. Against better opposition with guile, nous and discipline he’s done little to affect the game.

It could be argued that Broom did little in those games too, which would be fair comment, but to me, having lost to teams that were recently in the Championship it shows just how far away we really are.

I'm not sure that we are that far away Tonks, despite the results.

I don’t think I’m being too dramatic, although it’s not beyond me🤪 If we were to be promoted I still think we’re a few players light. It could explain Lowe’s over achieving comments recently. Not sure we can afford another rebuild so soon.

Lol what are you on about? I asked how many times Mayor has played THIS season.
I am pleased that you saw every game last season, how privileged you were
Did I say I saw every game last season? What's the reason for your attitude and what's your point about him starting 3 times this season?

He was pretty much snuffed out too, as the score shows!
