My mother worked in the old Royal cinema and I did on occasions descend the stairs. Do I qualify as royalty?

So Josh Widdicombe finds out in 'Who do you think you are' that his family line goes back to King Edward 1.
Any other Argyle supporters of royal descent?
All of us, if you go back 1,000 years or so, and probably far less.

1,000 years is about 50 generations, allowing for shorter lifespans and a younger average child-bearing age of around 20 in the dim and distant past. Two parents each, back 50 generations, is 2 to the power of 50 = 1,125,899,906,842,624 - over a quadrillion: way, way, WAY more than all the humans who have ever lived, so it's a statistical certainty that we all share bazillions* of common ancestors, including countless royals from around the world.

For example: 1 in 200 Men Are Direct Descendants of Genghis Khan (and that's based on just one royal personage, only 750 years ago, and the assumption of a full 25 years per generation).

* A big important number in maths an' that.
