His dob is 8th October 1999 so he is not 22 until 8th October this calendar year.
It works on a 2 year cycle. One of those cycles started after the champs this summer. Eligibility limited to those U21 at the start of this calendar year. No one believes me (don't totally believe myself!).

Do you really think it is anything to do with Ryan Lowe, whether and for how much, Cooper is sold? Really?
I await details of actual £2m bids previously made for Cooper AND Jephcott. Not just newpaper rumour.
I am pretty certain our manager would be involved in the discussion whether or not to sell a player and what fee is acceptable.

WBA have an abundance of quality keepers and Cooper would be well down the pecking order there. And agree about Palmer - he’s the best keeper we have ever had.

also I had the pleasure of watching Kelle Roos play for Derby recently. Wow, what a keeper he is now. Did great for us and is now a different level. Will either of them ever play in the Premier League as regulars? I seriously doubt it - that is how tough it is.

Coops seems a very level headed young man & is extremely focused on learning & developing his game.
He is our number 1 keeper & he will push himself so that he stays in that position
He will not be interested in media articles written about him- he will stay focused on the job in hand & look at how he can improve himself whilst under our tutelage
We are not a basket case of a club that has to sell the family silver just to make ends meet
If & when he chooses to move on it will because it is right for both parties

‘Zackly MM, & surely there are very few Greens who’re not revelling in his incredible development into what feels like he’s going to be( & is close already) the complete package, and so focussed on getting better all the time……assured in all aspects, most mentioned many times already, plus handling & distribution, anticipation, communication, decisions & decisiveness, timing, two-footedness etc!

HaHa, if anything his defence sometimes seem too confident in him, with some back-passes, very short at times! I remember mentioning a few “hospital balls“ at Posh from Dan Scarr ( no repeats since observed)
Overall, the confidence he gives the defence/ rest of the team is of huge value in itself.

It’s all going so well since his impressive & “sudden” debut almost 4 years ago, since which I’ve watched his development with relish & glee.
If anything my only frustration has been at occasionally seeing certain loanee(s) preferred over him, but on reflection his nurturing & overall development seems to have been pretty measured & certainly progressive.
66 starts already isn’t bad , plus that breathtaking first substitute appearance.
So very, very exciting and such a nice lad, great to listen to on interview.

Am so enjoying the ride on the “re-emergence”, I hope, of a “one of our own“ era, especially knowing that these are values & aims espoused & cherished by Simon Hallett & his team.

i think nicholls was the better keeper . he was just an incredible shot stopper.
Agreed, Nicholls had a raw talent and confidence that I don't see in Cooper - as promising as he is.

However, in a big-game situation I would probably take Cooper as Nicholls had a tendancy to lose the plot on the big occasions. Cooper thankfully seems to have a much calmer head on his shoulders.

BTW, in a few weeks' time it'll have been 26 years since Alan died.

Nichols certainly had the natural talent but made Jordan Pickford look cool calm and collected on occasions. He always had a clanger in him for all his wonderful natural ability. I wonder how he would have been in the modern game where keepers distribution and footwork with the ball is so much more important.

Palmer, the best keeper we have ever had? Are you a relatively young supporter talking about the last ten years or so?

He started off as a left-back and could certainly ping a pass. I'm sure he would have been able to cope with playing out from the back, but there definitely would have been situations where he'd try to take a striker on and lose the ball!

It would have been a lot of fun for sure.

He’s possibly the most valuable asset we’ve had, certainly in my time supporting Argyle. 3 million at the moment I’d say, and that’ll only keep going up - I’m normally one to dampen expectations when it comes to transfer fees so I think my valuation there goes to show how much I rate him. As someone else has said, it’s so rare for a 21 year old non-loanee goalkeeper to be first choice and to be performing at League 1 level.
In today's market 3 million really is just loose change.

I'd start at 10 million. He's 21 and playing regularly and keepers can go on well into their 30s, so he is a very valuable asset.

Do I think he is worth 10 million? No, no player is....but this is the current, mad world of football, so Argyle need to capitalize on this.

Why talk of selling?

Let's just enjoy him whilst he is here.

He will go when he and Argyle are ready.
