Yep that's what I meant and I did mention total games.

I've recently learnt that even if a full stop is in the wrong place the usual 3 or 4 posters will pick up on it.
"19 goals in 46 starts is impressive or 19 goals from a total of 73 games."

No confusing full stops in there. It does suggest that all of his 19 goals came in the 46 starts.

Look at the one against Wednesday.
Last season I believe that every single time he squares that to his mate for a goal and is the first one to congratulate him.
Not sure what has changed that Hardie is now taking on shots him that are riskier than routine square balls and routine tap ins.
Every manager wants to encourage confidence in their number 9, but also when a chance is as glaring as that you have to square it for a certain goal.
I only brought it up because it struck me as odd at the time. Jephcott and Hardie are very good friends off the pitch, room together for away games etc., so for Hardie not to tee his good mate up for a tap in seemed out of character.
Hardie hasn't changed. He was quite selfish last season too. But long may it continue if he's scoring. He does need more upper body strength. Very easily pushed off the ball and has no interest in even trying to win headers.

Back to Hardie; I enjoyed his post-match interview.
My hunch ( optimistic of course!) for tonight is , if we can continue the recent encouraging form 🤞, that it’s time to return to the “Hardie/Jephcott” assist/goal pairings that we saw at Shrewsbury; time for a couple of goals for Luke.

I really enjoyed watching Freddie Ladapos athleticism at Argyle - 2018-2019.

BUT there’s no way I would swop him for Ryan Hardie now.

What a brilliant brace from Ryan last night ( and could easily have been a hatrick). Such a cool head and clinical finish under pressure.

Great character, and club man. And more to come , from Ryan I feel. And if Rotherham paid £500,000 for freddie
Ladapo, then what price Ryan Hardie ??

Two more to add to the video library; can't stop watching and admiring
that coolness. In 50-odd years of watching football, I'm struggling to
remember anyone better at one-on-ones.

It's nerve-wracking though... he waits so long before he shoots that he ends up with defenders and the keeper practically on top of him and I am always expecting him to be robbed of the ball. Of course, that is WHY he scores - the defenders/keeper end up in each other's way and are too close to him to react - but it's difficult to watch.

Didn't the very best at that die this week??
I was about 11 or 12 when I watched an interview with Jimmy Greaves, a snippet of which has always stayed with me. He was asked about his goalscoring secret. Part of his answer was that if you are one-on-one with the keeper you should ALWAYS dribble around him. Taking this advice seriously I was determined to do this in our school matches - until I realised how difficult it was and how rubbish I was at it! If you are a genius like Greavsie I suppose it just came naturally - and Ryan Hardie seems to have a similar approach. Lucky for us! (y)
