Garrick has also been brought in to provide cover for our forwards. And I agree - there isn’t a player like Garrick in or youth set up currently which is why this loan makes perfect sense imo. Also atv23 years old he’s older than our academy players.

Has he?

Where’s the evidence that he’s capable of partnering another centre-forward in a system that never deviates from 2 up front?

Looking at his loan spell with Swindon he played right midfield in a 4-4-2, right back in - 4-4-2, the right side in a 3-4-2-1, and sometimes he was on the bench. I’m wondering if he’s ever played that role? He’s a winger and it’s from the wing it appears Lowe brought him in to be utilised

Only seen him play twice but I have read that he has also played rugby. A big unit with pace. He didn’t get too involved in the Newport game but I think the potential is there for him to be tried in a goal scoring role but more likely as a wing back.
I am hoping that he has similar success at Argyle that Brennan (Diver) Johnson had at Lincoln on loan from Forest. I note that he is now playing well in Wales’s World Cup qualifiers.

Equally Where’s the evidence that Garrick can’t play up front.?? I’m going on what Ryan Lowe has said … that Garrick CAN play up front and clearly by saying that he will play him as a striker should the need arise.

He never has before. That’s pretty defining evidence. Lowe’s rigid system requires 2 centre forwards who are experts in their craft, which doesn't really allow for repurposing right-sided midfielders just to see what happens.

Where on earth do you get that idea from?

If Ryan Lowe says he can play up front, who are you to disagree with such flimsy evidence?

Where do you get your defining evidence that Jordon Garrick has never played as a centre forward before Justin ? I have just had a look at his transfermrkt page and apparently he has played 20 times as a centre forward.

I wouldn’t describe Lowes system as rigid 😂

A week has passed since the transfer window closed and still no sign of a striker (free agent) signing.
I thought Nicky Ajose who was at Bury with Lowe would have been an option.

Was exactly the same me with Byron Moore…

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t sign anyone.

In Lowes mind he’s got a fully firing strike partnership in Jephcott and Hardie, Ennis due back soon, Shirley to cover as required, Garrick as cover to play up top and Mayor, Cooper and Broom available to player behind a lone striker if required.

I know the question of ‘injures and suspension’ will crop up and we will need to have a little bit of luck there but so will many many other teams.

In a way I’d almost not want any one in just to draw a wage and cover an issue that may never occur. Clearly if the right player was available and could add something big to the team then go for it. But to just add someone to ensure we have 4 strikers in the event of a ‘what if’ scenario just wastes resources and adds a complexity of dealing with game time for each striker.

Especially when you add in that if there is a problem we then could use the free-market.

Maybe Ajose or any other striker is an option being considered by RL , maybe contact has been made with one or more out of contract forwards and maybe what RL is prepared to offer in way of a trial or short term contract hasn't been acceptable to them . Just because we haven't signed one it doesn't mean efforts are not being made to bring another body in .
