Really pleased for Alex, this really is amazing news, hard earned and well deserved. If I had to put money one any of those released bouncing back and “making it” it would have been him especially out of the “development professional” lads.
Really don’t think this achievement can be undermined or underestimated when you consider he never even had a full professional contract here, got released, knocked around in regional leagues then get a League club off the back of a trial.
I always thought his talent warranted it and he was probably the one I was most disappointed at seeing get let go, very grounded, very level headed likeable guy, got the talent and the right attitude. I back him to do the biz, wish him luck and will be following his career closely.
I was often characterised as wanting us to play XI lads who had come through the academy every week but in reality just wanted to see two or three regularly starting or in contention to start, getting more than 10 minutes here and there. When I see what Lowe is now doing with Cooper, Jephcott, Randall et al, I can’t help but feel sorry for the lads in some of the strongest year groups we have ever had, who were just unlucky to come through under the Sheridan/Adams regimes and lament what we could have had but grateful we now have a manager and (hopefully) chairman with a much better philosophy.
