Is Justin panicking?
His attitude reeks of arrogance if anything!
Seems to think any criticism is media brainwashing led by Joe Cole.
Meanwhile all of Arteta’s signings are well judged additions and £150m well spent.
Still not sure if Justin has either looked at the league table, or watched the performances.
Even Norwich fans are panicking after their start, but Justin reckons everything is tickety boo from a side with 10 x the wage bill.
Will be an interesting case to follow throughout the season.
Wonder if Justin has money on a top half finish? Might get decent odds after those 3 opening games.

Knibbsworth accusing someone of arrogance?

Now that is funny.

Have you looked in the mirror lately?

I'm supportive of the efforts the club are making, happy with the 5 new signings they've made in the summer (regardless if they cost a net outlay of approx £100 Million), absolutely delighted they've secured Smith Rowe and Saka to long term deals, and definitely not stupid enough to be changing my mind because they've lost a couple of early season games with 8 or 9 first choice players unavailable.

Not sure what's arrogant about that.

AFTV is sensationalism and outrage. It's to football discourse what The Sunday Sport is to quality journalism. I didn't realise anyone took it seriously.
So are you saying that Robbie Lyle and his gang are all actors that are playing at being Arsenal fans then? Well they had me fooled. I thought they were all true football supporters.

Take the Brentford game.
Who are the 8 or 9 first teamers unavailable?

Can't believe you're dragging me down to this level. Alas, here we go.

Those unavailable included:

Aubameyang
Lacazette
Thomas Partey
Gabriel
Saka
Willian
Odegaard
Nketiah
Bellerin

We had a youth player leading the line (Balogun), plus Martinelli who was drafted in at the last minute due to Auba and Laca's last minute withdrawal due to Covid, even though he'd just returned from the Olympics and was nowhere near ready to start a match.

To be honest if it hadn't been the big first match of the season, televised and the 'home coming' for fans, plus the fairytale Brentford narrative, it would probably have been postponed.

Next!

I’m sure I read Arsenal were trying to sell/offload Nketiah, Lacazette, Willian and Bellerin. Not sure Arteta is on the wavelength that these are all crucial first teamers.

You read it! Or perhaps you read it!? You can't absolutely say for sure whether you read it. Perhaps it was someone on Twitter. Or someone down the pub that told you. Still. Must be true. Looking to offload all of our strikers but Aubameyang yeah? Without any replacements. That sounds totally plausible. Was that the same place you read that Ramsdale cost £30 Million, even though the true fee is undisclosed? And that Xhaka's the captain? And that Arteta's just a random ex-player with no previous coaching experience? All makes sense now.

Willian is going, hopefully. Too much of a burn on the wage bill. Doesn't mean Arteta wouldn't call on him if we needed it though. Bellerin's only going if we get a replacement. That's how it generally works.

I met Robbie twice out in Russia during the World Cup (he was wearing a Soviet generals cap during the Sweden game 😂), what an absolutely lovely bloke. Really friendly and very informative about football. Seeing as he goes to every Arsenal match he is much more clued up about the club than a Plymouthian Gooner who watches matches on Sky!

But Saka and Bellerin were not unavailable were they?

Saka even played.

Also you said it was 8 or 9 first teamers.
I must assume you mean a part of the squad because I don't see Willian and Nketiah being in your starting line up much.

Saka had just returned from holiday and was nowhere near ready. Normally the first name on the team sheet. Was not part of the match planning but called up on the Friday to the bench because of all the positive covid tests and illness, as was Bellerin despite carrying an injury. Otherwise he would have played. Arteta himself said it was 8 players but I listed 9. Also had a youth goalie on the bench because the no.2 keeper had covid. There‘s a 10th then. Willian was top assister last season. But he‘s been out with covid too. Eddie was on fire in preseason before he got injured in the Chelsea friendly.

I live in London, and have done for most of my life. Loads of my family are from Highbury Fields, where the family home is. I go to games when I can. I support Argyle too, went to my first match at Home Park as a 10 year old. And have seen Argyle hundreds of times in my life. But that doesn’t make me a Plymouthian.

So you have had a bad start because you are missing 9 crucial first teamers. One of which is Willian who even yourself wants rid of.
Has it occurred to you that many of your 9 players missing were absent because Arteta doesn't want them around this season?
If Nketiah is a crucial first team player now, presumably they won't sell him for around £20m to a club like Crystal Palace in the next few days.

Also an undisclosed fee is not a 'true fee'. On the paperwork, they don't write a cheque for an 'undisclosed fee'. There is a number on the cheque, and Sheffield United fans seem to know it, even if you prefer to keep your fingers in your ears.

As for Arteta's decorated managerial record, you are correct. His proven CV has totally passed me by. Can you remind me what success he has had in management prior to landing the Arsenal job? Just want to check you haven't got confused with Guardiola, Klopp etc.

Arteta himself said he had 8 players unavailable.

The fee for Ramsdale was £23 Million apparently, with add ons. But none of us know so it’s all a guessing game, since it‘s unreported. Sheffield Utd fans would have no Idea either. You do come across as very gullible and ready to believe absolutely everything you‘re told/read.

Willian was top assister last season.

Eddie - it’s all speculation, he signed a new deal recently. If Palace sign him for £20 Million, that’s another success story for the Arsenal academy. Similar to Joe Willock. It would be seen as good business and it pays for the Academy. Personally I hope he stays. I was there when he made his first team debut and scored twice to turn the match around, having come on as a sub in the 78th minute.

If there’s speculation that Jephcott’s being lined up by a Championship club for, say, £3 Million, it doesn’t mean Lowe’s going to leave him out of the team.

Actually Eddie may not have signed a new contract yet, but he‘s been offered one.

All the contract business gets more complex when players enter the final 2 years of their existing one.

The club has to consider how to retain the player’s value, rather than let them run down their contract in the final year, enabling them to leave for free.

If there‘s an unsigned contract extension, the club may have to cash in rather than lose out on a fee.

Agents know this, other clubs know this. So the fun and games develop.

This is completely independent of whether the manager wants a player in the match day squad.

I really don’t understand the signing of Aaron Ramsdale. It’s a lot of money for a player who’s going to sit on the bench. Leno is more than capable of being Arsenal No.1 for a few years.

The club stinks. The majority of the players have got a losing mentality. Players like Calum Chambers and Rob Holding genuinely wouldn’t look out of place at a Newcastle or Burnley. Infact I’d argue Tarkowski ( spelling ) is better than both of them.

The forwards are ageing. Lacazette and Aubameyang will both need to be replaced. Pepe cost a ton and hasn’t delivered at all.

You can compare Man United since Fergie left and Arsenal since Wenger left, and the two clubs seem to be going in complete opposite directions.

Fair enough they’ve had a couple of tough games, a few injuries to players you’d expect to start, but the Brentford game just summed Arsenal up. A club that is currently rotten to the core.
