Aaron Ramsdale has signed for Arsenal for £24m plus £6m add ons.
Mike Cooper was favourably compared with Ramsdale, by former England ladies goalkeeper, Rachel Brown-Finnis, when Argyle played Sheffield United in last season’s FA Cup.
Hold on to Coops for another 2 seasons and who knows what his value will be?

I was staggered Arsenal paid that much for him, or even bought him in the first place.

Sheffield United must be laughing that a player they had down as a transfer market dud has moved for a figure like that.

Incredibly misguided signing, yet again, by Arsenal. Ramsdale relegated from the Premier League in consecutive seasons tells its own story, I think. They let Martinez go to Villa- he was the one they should have kept.

A good example of the extra premium that young British players have over their foreign counterparts. Brexit and the rule changes to work permits have just made this premium even greater.

Arsenal get more ridiculous by the week.

That club is rotten and deserves all the failings it gets.

Sheffield Utd valued Ramsdale highly and were holding out for £35 Million.

Zero evidence then, that they considered him a ‘transfer market dud’.

In fact they made a healthy profit on him, having bought him a year ago for £18 Million. And they knew his pedigree as he was a product of their youth system.

He was their player of the year and young player of the year last season, and earned a call up to the England squad for the Euros.

Why the hatred? Bizarre unless you’re a Tottenham fan.

On the contrary. They’ve been very clever in the market this summer.

Signing promising young players (Lokonga is a brilliant signing), building a new spine, and securing their best home grown talent to new long term deals.

Work in progress, and severely depleted by COVID and injuries at the moment, but the signs are good, contrary to what the hystericism in the media has led gullible neutrals to believe.

I’m not a fan of any other club but Argyle.

Arsenal are a perfect example of a high ranking football team with the wrong people in charge.

They’ve gone backwards for the past 7 years and no one has been able to stop them so good riddance to them.

Gooner alert!
Your bizarre defending of Matt Macey now makes perfect sense.

“Clever in the transfer market”. How do you work that one out?
How many years will it take to check that judgement?

Arsenal will likely finish bottom half this season and you think £150m spent on young benchwarmers is being clever.
When they turn into world class players it is clever.
When they lose to Brentford it doesn’t look too clever.

That’s Matt Macey - first choice no.1 at the team top of the Scottish Premiership.

Yes I’m an Arsenal fan - so what?

I’m also an Argyle fan.

I live in London, wasn’t born in Plymouth and I’m definitely not a Janner.

As mentioned Arsenal are a work in progress building for the future. Ben White goes straight into the team, when recovered from Covid. As does Odergaard, possibly Sambi Lokonga too. Partey and Gabriel, when back from injury, Lacazette and Aubamayang, when recovered from Covid, Saka, when match fit after late return from Euros, will join Smith-Rowe and Tierney as first choices.

That they’ve been missing maybe gives a clue as to why opening day defeat to Brentford bears no relevance to were they’ll finish in the table.

There’s a first 11 capable of finishing top 4. No Arsenal fan is expecting it though.

If you really think Arsenal will finish bottom half of the table, why don’t put your money where you mouth is? Probably find good prices at mug-punter bookies for that kind of market.

I would definitely put money on Arsenal finishing bottom half this season.

Their squad is so good only one Arsenal player made it to the England Euro squad. From the supposed biggest club in London!

They just spent £30m on an ordinary keeper with a PhD in getting relegated. £150m in reserve players no other clubs want.

They have a random ex-player managing who doesn’t have any experience in what he is doing.

Their captain tried his best all summer to leave.

An atrocious set of defenders that Lukaku managed to batter all by himself.

Big pressure on Aubemeyang to keep this rapidly descending ship afloat.

Lots of average and or unproven names you're bashing out there Justin as your saviours.

If you don't think Arsenal are in decline, you almost lost your "next big thing" to Aston Villa.
