Not a rumour, just a suggestion, George Hirst who I believe is still at Leicester, had a tough time on loan at Rotherham in the Championship last season playing just 662 mins in 4 starts and 27 sub appearances , failing to score a single goal . Has played for England at various age groups U17-U20 from Feb 2016 - May 2017 a total of 40 games , scoring 16 goals , so will be known to Neil Dewsnip . May benefit from dropping to League One this year either on loan or permanently to kick start a once promising career , 22 years old .

Cheeky loan move for Rafa Mir?
Just a suggestion.
Wolves Spanish striker, 6'3 age 24. Only played twice for them since 2018 and in the last year of his contract, they need him in the shop window.
Failed loan move to Forest where he was panned. Just scored a hatrick in the Olympics and scored a lot in the Spanish second division on loan last season.
Would be a bold move but can't see a championship side taking a chance after how badly he got panned at Forest.
Niall Ennis can tell him how good it is down here, they must've crossed paths at Wolves
Would be an amazing signing but cannot see it happening. He scored quite a few goals in La Liga last season for Huesca.

I'd be surprised if this has not already been explored and considered. Good shout! Leicester may hold on to him for a few more days yet, but will need him out on loan once the season starts. Why not league 1?

Lowe did say we wouldn't be developing Prem youngsters this season. Might be reticent about bringing in someone else who hasn't scored for a very long time.

I see Connor Wickham is still a free agent. Not played much at all lately. Surprisingly no one has taken him yet. Although Iā€™d imagine his wages are way too much for us

Yes he did , I also believe he mentioned in a herald interview reference a striker signing that it was likely to be a loan although it may be a permanent signing . I could see someone like Hirst who is around Ennis' age (although we could probably do with someone more experienced) coming in permanently or as a loan with a view to signing permanently later .

You know you're getting older when the transfer rumours are possibly signing a player who is the son of a player who was previously mentioned in transfer rumours to Argyle.

George Hirst is an interesting find DG- and a good piece of research. The lack of goals in his senior career would worry me, though.

I think it would be well worth the club speculating and pushing- the-boat out for a good striker/ strikers. These are the guys who are going to make or break your season.

Ian Holloway once saidā€you will always make your money back on a big strikerā€ - which he said prior to signing Rory Fallon. As it turned out, the club made a slight loss on Fallon, if I remember.

I notice that Christian Doidge is not getting into the Hibs at this time.Heā€™s just the type of player Iā€™d love us to sign- although in the real world, probably more than we could afford.

Iā€™m surprised Ryan Lowe hasnā€™t ventured into the non- league market, with his background. Thereā€™s been talk of Kabonga Tshimanga, who looks a good player. But nobody has mentioned Michael Cheek ( top scorer in the national league, last season with 23 goals)- who seems much more the sort of player we need. Some might say too old at 29, but Iā€™m not so sure- heā€™s scored goals wherever heā€™s been, albeit non- league. For my money signing these type of players is a no- risk gamble, you would be likely to be able to recoup any fee you paid, by re- selling if it didnā€™t work it. Could Cheek repeat his scoring feats in the league ? Judge for yourselves- thereā€™s plenty of footage of his goals on the net, including one of his more recent goals in Bromleyā€™s 3-0 friendly victory over Crystal Palace U23 ( see footage on Bromley FC site, with some interesting comments on Cheekā€™s goal, from the commentator).
