Gary along with Bill are the two leading lights of the incredible Green Taverners.

There are many GT's, and all are deserving of high praise, but Gary is THE man and all GT's would admit that without Gary the GT's would not be where they are the moment.

Gary never gets involved in any of the political stuff (nor do any of the GT's) and it was one of the sweetest most helpful men I have ever met.

Now he's asking us for something.

Have a look at this, read the story and see if you can contribute to Gaz's effort.

Fantastic effort Gary … good on you!! :nworthy:

As well as the actual event of Pedal for Pounds taking place, The Green Taverners will also be holding an alternative event, a little bit closer to home, as the cyclists make their way back to Home Park from Wembley stadium in April.

Are you up for the following challenge??

•3 exercise bikes will be set up in the GT Suite (maybe more – dependent on how many people get involved with this / if we can get another bike)
•Each person will be challenged to complete a 3 hour slot on the exercise bike (with small breaks in between)
•A sponsor form will be given to each participant with a target of trying to raise at least £50
•Bottles of water / snacks / teas and coffees will be supplied on the day
•There will be a 24 hour run of this starting on Friday 24th April @ 1pm – finishing Saturday 25th April @ 1pm

Dates / times slots of the challenge:

Red = reserved for Argyle staff plus various other people we are encouraging to take part as well
Green = places taken up already
Black = available places (3 people for each time slot)

Wednesday 22nd April:
9am - 12 noon ... 1 place available
1pm - 4pm ... x3 bikes - places filled
6pm - 9pm ... 1 place available

Thursday 23rd April:

9am - 12am … 1 place available
1pm - 4pm ... places filled

6pm - 9pm ... x 3 bikes - places filled

Friday 24th April:
9am - 12 noon ... 2 places available

Friday / Saturday - 24th/ 25th … 24 hour
1pm - 4pm (Fri) ... x3 bikes - places filled
4pm - 7pm (Fri) ... 1 place available
7pm - 10pm (Fri) ... x3 bikes - places filled
10pm - 1am (Fri/Sat) ... 1 place available
1am - 4am (Sat) ... x 3 bikes - places filled
4am - 7am ... x 3 bikes places filled

7am - 10am (Sat) ... x 3 bikes - places filled
10am - 1pm (Sat) ... x 3 bikes - places filled

If you would like to take part in this to help boost the money raised for the Pedal for Pounds chosen charities, please leave your name on the thread (or pm me) stating the time and date you'd prefer to do

:scarf:

3 hours straight on a exercise bike will be harder than the Wembley to Plymouth. Awesome effort from all.

Not quite, but ive done 400 miles in 3 days and been a bit sore, however i struggle with 30 mins on an exercise bike. You get a bit of a break with cycling on the road.

3 hours on an exercise bike does seem a long time, I must admit, but don’t let that put anyone off if you’re considering taking part in this - it’s definitely doable – it’s how you approach the challenge, which will make the difference in successfully completing this.

Gary will set up a TV in the suite, as well (as it’s surprising how quickly time goes by when you have something to focus on - as well as yapping to the person beside you), plus there will be a few short breaks in between, which will slightly lessen the time spent on the bike.

Ultimately though, this challenge is all about two things … supporting the cyclists who’ll be out on the roads anywhere between 6-8 hours each day (and hopefully giving them a boost to know they are being thought of and we’re doing our bit too - in a different way) … and secondly, the goal of adding extra money towards their chosen charities.

So far we’ve had interest from supporters who attend the fansfest , some AFT board members have signed up to do this, some GT's too and we’re in the process of challenging Argyle staff to step up to the challenge as well.

So go on - who's up for giving this a go? :)

Can we get a pasoti team for one of the slots?

Don't do twit, twitter, twit, twaddle, face book or pen pal. No details on how to pay by cheque. Remember them?

Bleddy hell Coops, if you want to send me a cheque, I'll pay by the 2015 method.

How does that suit?

No Postal Orders mind.

A couple of more places taken up for the static bike event today :scarf:

Sponsor forms will hopefully be ready by our next home match against Bury.

Meanwhile, for the actual Pedal for Pounds cycle ride ... Gary's son, Liam, has now joined the challenge too (along with Ricky McGuire and Hannah) ... get on the McGuire family  ... and to everyone one who's entered this year  (which I believe has more than doubled in numbers from the amount who entered last year).
