It's that time of year when Argyle Community Trust coordinate a charity cycle event in aid of the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer and the Green Taveners' good causes. We all know what good work each of these organisations do and indeed The Chestnut Appeal benefited by £6000 last year.

On April 26th-29th we will be cycling from Oxford to Plymouth via: Reading, Southampton, Bournemouth, Yeovil, Exeter and Torquay football clubs.

So for this great cause the Wait For Us Cycling Club was formed. It consists of myself (aka Mark Paull) Jules Taylor and Ruaridh Jones. Jules has just recently had an operation for a debilitating condition but has recovered from that and has 8 weeks to get match fit . Ruaridh is not a regular cyclist but both are determined to complete the challenge and are hard at work. I myself took part last year so know what to expect.

Please follow the link to our Mydonate page and anything you can give will be gratefully appreciated by The Wait For Us team and put to good use by the respective charities. Thank you in advance. :nworthy: :nworthy:

First week of training behind us, Ruaridh is discovering what pedals are for. The cobwebs have been blown away so time to step it up this week. Onwards and hopefully not too much upwards for the Wait For Us cycling club, honorary membership is open by way of donation which is very much appreciated, thank you :nworthy: :nworthy:

Another week and finally out on the bike after a couple of weeks on the rollers. Bearing in mind Jules was in a hospital bed 3 weeks ago this is an achievement. More rollers this week and roll on the clocks going forward in a couple of weeks. Rumour has it Ruaridh is attempting a 50 miler next weekend.

Well, that was a fun ride today. pi$$ wet through and cold. the downhill bits were equally difficult. Like being smacked in the face with a wire brush and couldnt see a thing. the wind was blowing at 900 mph. Still a good ride under our belts and mileage in the bank. Onwards and upwards.

What a difference this week, double figure temperatures and blazing sunshine. When I said onwards and upwards I didnt think we would climb nearly 4,000 feet over 40 miles but there it was. Cracking ride and feeling much better about whats ahead, 3 points tomorrow will ease any pain in the legs.

Nearly there. Just the packing to go and off tomorrow. Watch out for this Pilgrims Progress if I can post with the bloody phone. Technology eh! Good luck to all the other riders and once again great support from the Green Taverners and Argyle Community Trust.

Well that was that, another pedal4pounds complete. Back home after a long drive straight after the game, tired, sore but a sense of achievement and all for the cause. Thanks to the support staff and fellow riders in team 3. It was all worthwhile. Please if you can follow the link to the mydonate page below, thank you.
