Tony

Are you the Tony Hooper who used to play for Pennycross Methodists in the 60's with the Maybee brothers?

If you are,you are the sort of guy to get my vote!

Blimey Ferg, that took me back:)

We used to play home games at 6 trees and used the stand pipes in the allotments as replacmemt showers. We were probably the youngest team playing in adult leagues and got kicked. I remember we had to attend one service a year for the church to carry on supporting us.

I remember Trevor Maybe, but for the life of me cant remember his brothers name. You obviously played as well Ferg?

Happy days, thanks for the memory and thanks for your support.

I know this is going off the subject of Tony's candidacy a bit , but to put people's memories to rest,Trev's younger brother was named Chris and he ,Trev and I played in the Pennycross team when the team started in the Plymouth Combination .Trev of course was the one who was the driving force behind the formation of the team.I don't what they are doing now as I left Plymouth in the late 60's and I'm afraid lost touch.

By using the word "candidacy" you can happily deviate a little:)

Many thanks for reminding me of Chris. Didnt both the Maybees have cars? I cant remember how we got to away games otherwise.

Still, as stated, Happy Days.

Originally, the whole election process should have been over by now and we could dback slap/commiserate as required.

But that was then and this is now. So now, today, I'm off on holiday to France, checked weather forecast and its looking good until we leave on the 14th. Ofcourse, as I'm about to leave there are calls for the election to be scrapped and Independent candidates to be scrapped to the recycle bin.

So, having been enthusiastic about the PASB from inception my timing, as it has turned out, could not be worse. But I still say, Lets go forward when the prize of real fan involvment for all is in reach. And why not? The Child ballots were an unfortunate hiccup by the ERS (?) but they have it in their power to rectify. So why throw the baby out with the bathwater, literaly and metaphorically?

None, lets get the thing up and running, lets get on with monitoring decisions of the Board, lets get on with providig an interface for fans.

And for once, lets ignore all the neighsayers who dont possess a constructive bone in their body nor have the confidence (without a keyboard) to stand and challenge.

This is a great opportunity as it brings gauranteed "face time" with the Board, something no other group has and has the capacity to ensure the bad times do not return without warning.

For all the fraught journey to get here, lets cross the line and make it better, rather than strangle at birth.

Tony I agree with your view and my idea would be that we press ahead on the basis that the immediate work of PASB will be to form a procedure agreement and remit with an immediate election to take place. I see the trust have mentioned this sort of approach as one of the ways forward albeit in my opinion it should involve all candidates in this election. I do agree process has been shambolic however that is no fault of any individual who is running in this election. I must make it clear that I will abide by what the majority of the candidates decide is in the best interests for all concerned but hope the second option of the trust is the rough path that is taken. We should deffo all get together on your return and before any result is announced if this election continues. If you need to call me whilst you are away feel free as I know how it feels to be away whilst this stuff is going on.....bloody mess.

Tony,

I know you are desperate to be part of the PASB and it seems at any cost but forever and a day there will be questions regarding the childrens vote and I feel that until a legitimate election is carried out the "board" will be hindered and open to ridicule.

Sorry for delay, but on this occasion you are off a bit. I returned home yesterday and the lack of free wifi in rural France is something that President Hollande needs to look at as a priority:)

Now, you say:
"Tony,

I know you are desperate to be part of the PASB and it seems at any cost but forever and a day there will be questions regarding the childrens vote and I feel that until a legitimate election is carried out the "board" will be hindered and open to ridicule."

It is true to say I have been an enthusiastic supporter of the PASB from the outset. At any cost? No, not at all and difficult to see how you arrive at that conclusion. It is also interesting that this barb is pointed in my direction only and not at the other candidates, particularly those in the UK and able to reply.

My view is quite simple, this has been a cock up, as have other elements of the process.

However, as a democrat I do believe that elections are important including this one. Should I lose out, I will accept that but hope the first Board ensure this will never happen again, the process rather than me losing out:)

For better or worse and with a week to go to declaration I am happy to stand by the system in place for this time as I believe and always have that the prize for all Argyle fans is worth having.

I believe it will be up to the first PASB to raise the game and ensure that all fans see in time, that the PASB is a positive force for good. It is clear to me that if this fails the same opportunity may not be available to any other sectionalised group, as it would go in the face of JBs intentions of wider not narrower fan involvement

Fortunately, I am an optimist and believe that people of different views can work together for common cause if they have the will to.

I will also hope they address the issue of a 2 tier Board. Most people appear to have forgotten that half of the Board will come from Supporters Groups. To date, not one person has been publically selected by the deciding groups or their process to arrive at their choice/s. Informally, I am aware of some names and some may have been declared whilst I have been away. I have seen little comment on this aspect of 50% of the PASB.

As always, happy to discuss over a pint.

Tony
