Have you quit the Cornish Branch already?

I'm not a member mate.

Too few toes.

You would love a Cornish Woman Mr Newell more toes for you to suck on then you could ever dream off!

When you boys have finished.....
I was not sure if I gave Chris the PACSA apologies for the meeting on saturday when we were talking at Truro last tuesday.
From the message on the OS obviously not
We have a committee meeting on wednesday. I'll make sure that something is on the agenda for that meeting regarding this.
We are trying to get this side of the Tamar more enthused with going to home park.
Just make sure you are welcoming to ALL visitors ;)

Apologies mate, I thought you were not able to make it not that nobody could make it. I will ask for the update to be adjusted.

Chris

It's a pity the PASB is still not up and running as perhaps they could ask some searching questions about the current shambles at Home Park.

Is JB having second thoughts?

You don't need a PAS board to answer that one. No he isn't. There are problems on the field but JBs interest and passion isn't the cause.

Something else which seems to have slipped off the agenda:

I'm not entirely sure who the "back office management" are at HP now but I think I'm right in saying that we don't have a Ridsdale type character who actually knows all the nitty gritty of running a professional football club. And is able to kick some ar$e when needed.

There was talk of a recruitment agency being engaged to look for suitable candidates but it's all gone very quiet.

David

I spoke to Chris Webb last week about his overdue Presidents Progress. He apologiesed and said they were having problems tying the ERS down and be in a position to progress. He felt that we should hear within a week. I will get back into touch with him and ask for an update.

On your wider point the temporary (?) CEO is JBs FD from Saltrock, Martin Baker. I do not think he has any previous experience of professional football and is, I believe, an accountant.

I made the point last season when JB took over and others have made similar poiints, but, we have an inexperienced: Owner, Board, Manager and coaches, let alone many of the players, in terms of a profesional football club. The manager dispensed with JD and we lost Gordon Bennett, it is difficult to quantify that level of experience loss but particularly in terms of a club just coming out of Administration.

On a personal note, we completed the process of discussion with David Wheeler back in April when we had momentum. The supporters groups only met in July. To date we do not know when the ballot papers will be posted out (or if they will still), The process and timescale of voting/counting and declaring results. In general we do not know how the SGs will fill their space/s although I can tell you that PASTA will be favouring a candidate from the Northern Branch to fill the Exiles seat.

When I look around at some of the decisions taken since the end of last season, Id call them naive rather than plain bad, but I can only wonder what import the PASB could have put in to try to help an inexperienced team.

I still believe fully in the PASB ideal, but understand the "turn off" to many. We need some decisive action and hopefully Chris will have good news. If not, we ought to consider Plan B.

Now where have I heard of that before?

Edited to add

David, I have just heard back from Chris. He has sent the Presidents Progress to the club and it should be published online tomorrow.

I think it will progress the matter of the election substantially.

Hope that helps, Tony

Tony, is it worth looking at getting some supporters to form the PASB with no election just to get it up and running with a proviso of having an election at the end of the season?

I'm sure the 10 candidates could come to an agreement to allow six to form the PASB or even have all 10 nominees as the interim PASB until the end of the season.

Posty

Its an idea that David Wheeler floated originally. Simply, his idea was an interim Board to set the Constitution and a framework to work by followed by elections. That idea was buried.

I tried earlier not to pre empt Chriss Presedential Progress and I w ill try not to now. But I know one candidate had dropped out to be a supporters group nomineee (see my post above) and I think Chris PP will make a lot of issues clearer. I believe we are getting closer but there is obvious frustration with some issues that had the team been doing better would perhaps not taken on such significance.

I think a lot of pressure must be sitting on Martin Bakers shoulders who, besides acting CEO is also FT FD of Saltrock. I think for the Club and Martin the sooner an experienced football CEO is appointed the better for all concerned.

And the sooner elections are completed and the PASB finalised the better it will be.

From talking to Keith Bulley at the Plymouth Branch committee meeting last night I understand that we will be representing the Plymouth / Cornwall / North Devon Seat for the first year.

So with Northern Branch representing the 'exiles' groups, PASALB having their own seat and the Trust having 3 seats the supporters groups side of things seems to be sorted.

Just need the 'members' vote to be sorted and the PASB will be up & running.

It's a case of waiting to know when & where the meetings will be held and then matching this with people's availability.

So are you expecting the branch rep to change depending on availability, rather than nominating one person?

I agree with Tim being a member of the supporters club we should nominate a member.

That's not what I said.

Until we know more (anything!!) about the workings of the PASB it's pointless nominating anyone before we know if they will be able to perform that role.

People do have lives outside PAFC.

We've committed the Plymouth Supporters Branch to playing a full part in the PASB but until we have some idea of what is actually involved and more importantly when, it's pointless putting forward a specific person and then finding they can't do Tuesday afternoons or Wednesday evenings or whatever.

As it is a "group" seat rather than an "individual" one I can't really see a problem with sharing the responsibility. Say the "nominated" person was on holiday would it be better to send a substitute or just not be represented?

We've attended all 4 of the PASB planning meetings, each time by a different committee member.
