Not long till the release of FIFA 13.

Lots and lots of Career Mode changes (including that you can no longer play as a Player-Manager).
For X-Box'ers, you'll be able to "interact" with the referee...

28th September for us Europeans.

Keep an eye out for Argyle's revamped setup! ;)

Bet it will still play like every version since Fifa 2005 though...

Yep, played one you've played 'em all. Every new game is essentially a glorified database update isn't it? Hard to justify spending the best part of fifty quid for each edition.

I just hope that refereeing intelligence has been improved, the inconsistencies can be quite infuriating at times.

Wrong

The whole new defending system brought in fifa 12 has changed the game massively

I wish FIFA would just put a real effort into the stadiums in particular, I've had enough of playing Leicester at 'British Modern' and Leeds at 'Ivy Lane'. They need to work on the crowd visually too, I just played a Boxing Day game against Oxford and we struggled to fill one block, absolute rubbish! FIFA 04 and 05 will always be my favourite! I wish the PES series didn't go so tits up circa 2008, that was the joy of my life once FIFA went downhill. Out of interest, did anybody play any of the 'This is football' games? They were the pits!

Only if you choose to use it. When I played it I didn't even know about the new system and had no problem competing with my mates who had been playing it for months. The system maybe there but you can still play the game in exactly the same way as all the previous years.

I quite enjoy the new tactical defending system, think its more challenging than legacy, especially when playing on legendary like I do.

It gets very dull very quickly on single-player as well. All the AI teams seem to play in exactly the same way - it sometimes feels like you're playing the same team 46 times a season.

Fundamentally all sports series games are repetitive in nature, the lure of the newer version being updated teams and a few additional functionalities.

I am looking forward to the new free-kick mode, whereby you can use dummy runners and custom free-kicks rather than the standard left foot/right footed taker.

Only £36 so pre-ordered... roll on 28th September!
