I seem to recall Lewis Alessandra being our first summer signing 4 years ago, then maybe Deane Smalley a year later? Can anybody recall if that's right or not, and who have been our first summer signings since then?

Ryan Donaldson was the first signing last summer, mid-way through June.
In 2015 it was Gary Sawyer, in 2014 it was Lee Cox and in 2013 it was Luke McCormick.

And in 2017 it's ....

Tony Capaldi was signed in time for the last game of the season so that Sturrock didn't lose out on him during the summer.

Hopefully as our season finished a little earlier than last season we might be further down the line for securing our signings this year. The play-offs seemed to take ages last year, time where we didn't know which division we would be in, and as much as you can prepare for either scenario it's still going to put you on the back foot a bit. With extra time to prepare could lead to get our first choices in earlier.

Very good point. Additionally of course the management team was busy preparing the players fitness and delivering instruction for 3 extra games, while the secretary and his office team were busy with ticket requests.
