Away days

Just saw Gillingham arriving at St Mellion at around 7pm, so good time to settle in, days training tomorrow and then great venue to getting to the ground. Seems very professional arrangement, what do we tend to do for away games these days? Hopefully similar but if not we are clearly giving away a competitive advantage, especially given the distances we travel.

The normal routine is:
For Saturday away games, the team will train on Friday morning, lunch at 12 and leave at 1.
For Tuesday midweek away games, train Monday morning, lunch at 12, leave at 1.

Ok i guess better than driving on the day but even so, I'm sure their players will be ultra refreshed after a 2 night stay prior to the game.

More likely bored stiff.

So we overnight at hotels prior to every away game?

Alot of team stay at St Mellion. Hartlepool did the day before we pumped them 5-0 a couple of seasons ago so lets hope that is an omen

Apart from Yeovil away in the Checkatrade, but for all league games this season they will, they even did the normal Friday routine for Bristol Rovers.

Another example of the financial disadvantage of geography. Argyle need to stay prior to every away game but bet Gillingham etc don’t, hence why 2 night stay before the Argyle game is more viable for them.

Not that it did them any good in the end!

I suppose the difference would be that this trip is a one off for Gillingham so they only have to finance the hotel stay for 2 nights once, where as we would probably have to finance it 15 or so times a season.
