Predictions as to what the trend will be on these boards...

Two games under our belts by then ( hopefully )

Will Griffiths haved scored a brace? Will we have let in ten and continued our five a game trend? Will there be calls for fletch's head?

Will we have a couple of new signings by then!! We will see I guess.

Anyway, thought I would post an uncontrovertial (can't even spell it) topic...

See if we can make it so...

I think ppl could be calling for Fletchers job already

Porstmouth look like they going to cheat there way through the league cup game by bringing in over paid players

Aldershot look a good soild team at the moment which Argyle dont look like

We would have been knocked out by a strong(yes strong!) Portsmouth side 2-1 after an impressive performance.
We would have beaten a well organised but unspectacular (like ourselves) Aldershot side 2-0 with Griffiths getting a brace.
We will have a new striker in on loan.
Pasoti will be buoyed by the Portsmouth game and further encouraged by a professional opening league game victory.

Not too difficult to be optimistic is it? This set of events is hardly unrealistic either.

Yes. Aldershot had a good game yesterday in the Cup at Wolverhampton. They drew 1-1 at the end and when down 7-6 on penalties. If they play to that standard at Home Park, I am sure Argyle will find it difficult.

Wolves had over 20 chances though.... on another day it could easily have been a trouncing.
The result of a football match doesn't always tell you the full story.

I think the first 2 games will give us a big indication of how well we will do.

My opinion will be more based on the overall performance rather than the actual result.

If we lose both games and play shite then that coupled with pre season would hand the half glass brigade the ammo they would require to launch a fairly sunstantial assault on the managment.

I'm hoping for a good start to our season (obviously) and would like to think that Griffiths is a good addition to the squad. I believe he can get 20+ this year. I am a Fletcher fan and trust in his ability to organise the team.
If we start full strength I think we can beat Aldershot... My fear is that we lack strength in depth but that's not too surprising.
Let's hope we have more of these  than these :furious: on the boards by this time next week!

Be honest, was it the lanyard or the fixture list?

The overkill of olympics coverage should dampen much interest in high-cost live sport for a few months I reckon, although there'll be a push from the likes of Coe & co to prolong retiring said gravy train with legacies waffle. How much "pride" can you be brainwashed to muster and part with at the tills for more than two weeks merely watching someone with the same birthplace run fast or jump high?

Dagenham to come - another fine place Argyle take us back to.

It's a gift really, being able to find such deep cynicism in everything!

That's right the overall performance is far more important than the actual result........I think you are Carl Fletcher in disguise and I claim my free pasty and scrumpy.

The result is all important....pretty football didn't get Brazil anywhere yesterday.

Over the season, yes. Over the first couple of games, no. The performance is important initially as it will provide a yardstick as to how well we may do over the season.

I think we'll lose 0-2 to Portsmouth and scrape a scrappy draw against Aldershot with Purse scoring. This will be enough ammunition to get the doom and gloom merchants excited.
