You consisently seem to think I am a Labour voter. You couldn't be more wrong. Apart from that I tend to agree with you. Thank God he's not doing the damage he could if he was in government. But like Michell and Fox he isn't. Unlike Cameron, Clegg, Osborne, May, Lansley, Hunt, Gove, Laws etc who sadly are.

Is there a single competent cabinet minister? Hasn't every single one of them cocked up everything they have been trusted to do? Absolutely riddled with incompetence the lot of 'em.

Next on the agenda for dithering, U-turn, muddle and indecision: badger culling. This one will run and run!

By the way yesterday Our Incompetent Leader was campaigning about law and order. "Tough and intelligent" he said. It's difficult to see how that policy will compare favourably with a "lax and stupid" alternative.

Do they think we are all completely idiotic? Why are we treated with such contempt?

Why? This government, like the last one, are corrupt and inept. We need to expose and rid ourselves of the scum.

I honestly don't buy the posh toffs line - Tony Blair was hardly a working class hero, no matter how hard he tried to convince us otherwise - it's just inexperience and incompetence. Running things takes experience. I made a complete mess of the first thing I was in charge of, just as the government are. The only difference is, I was running a community choir of ten people rather than the world's sixth biggest economy.

Because its all getting a bit tedious now "oh look a member of the Government ate with the wrong fork at lunch with his family", the press will do what they do (Lord help us) and barely anyone will vote, Labour will get back in with their promise to spend money we don't have to reduce their mahoosive debt, they'll balls it up and the Tories will get back in, then we can start complaining about the posh boy only looking after his posh friends again.

Actually, I think Babararacucudada make a good point

We surely need basic competency from our ministers at the very least.

Government needs to be more of a science, rather than just party political.

Ministers (whichever colour) need to investigate proposed policy impact thoroughly beforehand, rather than admitting later 'oh, we hadn't thought of that'. It speaks of desperation and a desperate government serves none of us. Moreover, it can cost the country billions. I really don't think it's a healthy situation when the man in the street may know more than his MP on any given subject, nor do I think it's wise to allow pressure groups and advisers to peddle their own agendas through bought access to ministerial ears, either through personal contacts or donations to party funds.

As it stands we have a political class drawn mainly from the career path from university, and the bar, they can debate and argue policy very well, but have very little real world economic experience between them. I don't know about you but it seems to me that most fields of work require a degree of specialisation, skill, and competency that is in fact seriously demanding, and wrought from longstanding experience. I would suggest before inflicting policy ministers need access to that experience for a time in a real and holistic way, understanding the issues and implications in order not to make rash policy decisions based on ignorance that will be backtracked later.

You often hear this argument of today's lot being career politicians with little or no industry experience, but hasn't that always been the case. For example, you couldn't really argue that Wilson, Churchill, Attlee or Heath had an industry background. One or two had skirmishes with enterprise, but they generally hailed from privileged, military or charity backgrounds - or a combination thereof.

Blair was a career politician, Major had a few, what would have been considered menial jobs before entering politics at 25. And, while perhaps unpalatable to some on here, Thatcher could be said to have the best enterprise grounding in early careers as a research chemist and barrister.

It no doubt amounts to some real world experience - but helping them to foresee the ramifications of political decisions ? No. That's why all have - and had - armies of civil servants working for them.

Twas ever thus really ....

It took a good few years for Churchill to be successful though didn't it? Until he became Prime Minister he'd made a mess of pretty much everything. Gallipoli anyone?
