So, I'm getting married on Saturday (I should be more committed to Argyle i know) and i still haven't started my speech! I was thinking about winging it but after gaining advice from some people they tell me it is better to write one out. What sort of thing do i need to put in? I know a few thank you's to the brides father and everyone for turning up etc and a few jokes. But all in all what generally makes a good speech? I am totally clueless.

Thanks

Kenny

I did mine last month.

Just thank you's to catering staff, usher's, best man, bride's and your family.

Toast to the bridesmaid and the brides.

I had a couple of jokes in there to, "Ladies and gentleman, i won't lie, this isn't the first time i have risen from a warm seat clutching a piece of paper today" "This is the first and most probably last time my wife will let me speak on behalf of both of us"

Doesn't have to be too long just cover all you need to :)

I wouldnt worry too much, its the easiest speech of the lot. Remember to thank everyoen, say the missus looks great and do a couple toasts.

Relax, no-one expects the groom to be hilarious, that pressure is on the best man.

A bit late for you I'm afraid, but for anyone who's still to do it the old 'Have you ever seen an elephant with cloth ears' opening gambit is usually a winner. Was for me anyway.
