It always baffles me as to why D&C police never use Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act to remove these people. It's used successfully in other police force areas:

61 Power to remove trespassers on land.

(1)If the senior police officer present at the scene reasonably believes that two or more persons are trespassing on land and are present there with the common purpose of residing there for any period, that reasonable steps have been taken by or on behalf of the occupier to ask them to leave and
(a)that any of those persons has caused damage to the land or to property on the land or used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards the occupier, a member of his family or an employee or agent of his, or
(b)that those persons have between them six or more vehicles on the land,he may direct those persons, or any of them, to leave the land and to remove any vehicles or other property they have with them on the land.

Maybe the government are too afraid to lt the police use section 61 for the simple fear of being seen as using a Thatcherite bit of law. We all remember the trouble with the travellers in the 80's and early 90's and maybe Cameron is worried that it might infringe on his idea of compassionate conservatism?

Compassionate conservatism - now there's an oxymoron for you.

I wonder how much tax or rates this family of "travellers" have paid to afford a lifestyle like this, will anyone actually even bother to investigate their tax affairs, I wonder:

"William and Mary, known as Billy and Brida, enjoyed holidays to Dubai and a 10-day cruise around the Caribbean on the Cunard flagship liner Queen Mary 2. The family also spent the spoils of their enterprise on breaks to Tenerife and Cancun in Mexico.
As well as holidays, they drove around in top of the range cars, including a silver A-Class Mercedes saloon, a Rolls Royce, a red Mini convertible, a Toyota Hilux pick up, a Ford Ranger and a Mercedes van, and had built up a mounting property portfolio potentially now worth millions of pounds". Traveller family guilty of forced labour

The Government will never, ever want this to stop as it brings public outrage. There isn't a single issue that brings out more hatred and outrage amongst tax payers/voters.

Meanwhile, people like George Osbourne give a tax break to 8,000 people in the UK who earn over £1m per year - this represents an average tax saving among those 8,000 of £107,000 per annum. If you add that up, it's £856,000,000 (£856M) per year saved in tax by some already very rich individuals. Wayne Rooney's £107k better off this year thanks to George Osbourne.

Nevermind that though, we're supplying these verminous scumbags with a portable toilet and a skip! Where's my pitchfork.

He accused the government of Socialist President Francois Hollande of driving France's most talented figures out of the country. "I am leaving because you consider that success, creation, talent, anything different, must be punished," he said

Happens everywhere under socialist governments with punative tax rates, it seems. Raise tax rates beyond sensible levels, people won't pay, lose tax revenues. Not rocket science is it?

Millionaire travellers won't even pay 40% I suspect.
