This only came into my head reading The Pilgrim yesterday,

Would anyone like to see him back as manager of the club?
He knows the club and he has got the experience. Something Fletcher hasnt got and something we need!

Thoughts?

IF we did mentor route again - then he could fill that gap - but I don't think CF or JB would use that route again.

Read my reply to the Cotterial thread.

Two average managers, two long ball merchants. Lets get someone in with a bit of imagination, long-termism and vision if we are to sack Fletcher. Not mediocre, serial faliures.

But we're already doing long-termism with Carl Fletcher. It would make no sense at all to get rid of Fletcher and then bring someone in on a long-termism ticket. If Fletcher is replaced it would have to be for someone to make an immediate impact.

Are long-termism and short-termism mutually exclusive though?

Id argue it's possible to have someone carry on for the long-term vision of possesion football but also be a bit more canny in the short-term and not make so many of the errors that Fletch has made. I don't want Fletcher out just yet, I still think he can turn things around but he has been outfoxed in games and he has made mistakes in the transfer market. If somebody can make less of those mistakes, thus picking up more points in the short-term but still carry on the long-term plan of drilling passing football into the players then that could possibly be the best of both worlds.

Good luck finding us a manager with that description Sam.

Fletcher is here to stay, and I'm glad of it. I've put up with 4 years of total shit, I'm sure I can put up with another 3-6 months if it means it will get better.

Don't be too quick to dismiss Blackwell as a manager - since he left the blades he's been around the world watching top teams train with the aim of using new methods and techniques in his own job. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns Bury into a promotion challenging outfit within a few years.

I can only hope it all turns out that well really, which is what we all do.
