Shocked to hear this evening that world marathon record holder and last year's London Marathon winner, Kelvin Kiptum, was killed in a road accident in Kenya today. I was looking forward to watching his attempt to break sub 2 hours in Rotterdam in April. Sadly his coach, Gervais Hakizimana, also died in the accident. RIP gents.

Just seen this on the Beeb. Many happy memories of my YTS days working in a garage desperately waiting til 3pm for his afternoon show. Just loved the characters like Mick Jagger and David Bowie. RIP.

Annie Nightingale not that long ago, and now Steve Wright. Annie (and John Peel) introduced me to so many different bands and genres when I was in my late teens, but Steve Wright was there on Radio 1 when I was into my 'popular music' in my early teens. Every day after school, up in my bedroom, playing on my ZX Spectrum with Steve Wright on my radio. That was my secondary school days.

RIP DJ Silly Boi.

Actuarily speaking I’m due to kick the bucket in 3 years, although I have plans to foil my pension provider. Really brings it home when younger contemporaries like Steve Wright die, far too soon. Used to love Sid the Manager, and the Elvis impersonator on his show had me and my wife in stitches.
